WELCOME TO VIETNAM ASSOCIATION OF SEAFOOD EXPORTERS AND PRODUCERS (VASEP)

Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) is a non-governmental organization, established on June 12th 1998, based on the principles of volunteer, autonomy and equality. VASEP members include leading Vietnamese seafood producers and exporters and companies providing service to the seafood sector. . Seafood exports of VASEP members represent 80% of the total seafood exports of Vietnam. With the main role of supporting the development of Vietnam’s seafood industry, VASEP has performed the following activities:

VASEP’s Chairman

-To enhance the relationship between members of the association with its key business partners: organizing and coordinating activities to establish the relationship of assistance and cooperation for development among member enterprises, aquaculture farmers and related key business partners so as to enhance their competitive capability, to overcome effectively international trade barriers and disputes, to set up an united and strong enterprise community. – To enhance the relationship with the Government, be a linkage between association enterprises and the State: Collecting and reflecting timely opinions from member-enterprises to the governmental agencies on adverseness in state managing policies in fishery sector; recommending and proposing solutions for sustainable fishery development; co-operating with the functional authorities to organize activities in supervising and controlling quality assurance, food hygiene and safety, fishery veterinary; disseminating and guiding enterprises to implement the state policies and regulations; recommending the related governmental agencies to enforce policies which bring benefits to seafood enterprises as well as to the sustainable development of Vietnam’s fishery; representing and protecting legitimate rights and interests of member-enterprises.

-To reinforce international and interior relationship: Continuously extending the relationship and cooperation with international and local organizations as well as individuals through activities such as hosting and taking part in industry seminars, projects, forums and dialogues in Vietnam and the world; being a bridge connecting international non-governmental and non-profitable organizations with Vietnam’s seafood enterprises in order to attract more co-operation and foreign investments in fishery sector of Vietnam.

-To provide updated market information and organize events: Providing seafood enterprises up-to-date trade information through website: www.vasep.com.vn in two versions : English and Vietnamese, through publications by VASEP, such as Seafood Trade Newsletter (four issues per month), Vietfish International (one issue every two months), Seafood Trade Magazine (monthly); organizing a variety of international and local seminars, conferences events and other services for seafood enterprises and aqua cultural farmers.

-To launch seafood trade promotion and export market expansion: annually organizing Vietnam Fisheries International Exhibition; leading seafood enterprise delegation to take part in international and local seafood and food exhibitions; co-operating in the implementation of Vietnam seafood promotion campaigns to the international markets.

-To provide training courses: organize and implement educational and training courses to improve the ability, professional knowledge, skills and awareness for technicians, managers and personnel, who are in charge of import-export business in the seafood enterprises

-To provide consultant service: Support member enterprises to improve productivity, quality and proficiencies in production and business, build up raw material resource, expand markets and improve the competitive power of the enterprises and their products. Provide the related agencies information, consultancies on appropriate assisting and promoting solutions and measures to be taken. Provide assistance to the domestics fishery enterprises as well as international ones to access more chances in trade, partner seeking and business. Up to now, in the whole country there’re 245 seafood processing facilities which are allowed to export to EU market, among which 190 are members of VASEP. Many other member facilities are acknowledged to apply international quality management programs, like HACCP, ISO, HALAL, BRC, SQF…., conforming to the international standards and allowed to export their seafood products to world markets.
