Well the males have a bar with little white spots on it and the females are plain in their color.

males have more markings and have those “cheeks”.Males beeks are red and females are orange. Pet stores have them or finch breeders. Ads in papers internet has them too. Careful about pet stores or bird rallies.

As a breeder of zebras, shafttails, and gouldians I can tell you that females continue to feed after the eggs hatch.
