The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has forecast that the country’s exported cashew nut volume will reach 163,000 tonnes in 2011, a total worth USD 1.32 billion.
These figures represent a 17.6 percent decrease in volume but a 16 percent increase in value compared to the same period last year.
According to MARD, in 2011, exported cashew nuts will continue to be sold for a good price. They have forecast that prices of cashew nuts for exports for the whole year will hover at USD 8,098 per tonne, a rise of 22.6 percent from the previous year.
In the first seven months of 2011, Vietnam exported 84,000 tonnes of cashew nuts worth USD 656 million. Average export prices were USD 7,631 per tonne, a year-on-year rise of 43.9 percent./.
