How to Water Jasmine Plants

Jasmine is a popular woody vine in the Southern states and the heady fragrance from the star-shaped white blooms is often referred to in novels written about the South. It does well indoors and in greenhouses in the Northern states and with proper pruning is a lovely bushy plant, about 2 to 4 feet in height, which is perfect for pots or other containers. Jasmine plants love warm, humid conditions and it is important to its success to water them properly no matter where it is located in your lawn or home, according to the Plant Ideas website.

Instructions

  1. Water indoors or in greenhouses during the hottest part of the day. The heat of the sun will help the water to evaporate and create a more humid environment indoors.

  2. Push your finger into the soil next to the base of the jasmine plant. If the top 1/2 inch of soil is dry, it is time to water the jasmine. You may need to water it twice a week if it is outdoors during the hottest summer months.

  3. Avoid overwatering the jasmine plant during the winter months. This will prevent it from getting diseases that result from the roots rotting.

  4. Plant your jasmine in an area where it will get at least four hours of full sunlight during the daytime hours, according to The Plant Expert website.
