How to Grow White & Pink Gerbera Daisies

images (1)

Gerbera daisies are a warm-weather perennial, though they act more like an annual in most of the United States. These daisies produce vibrantly colored flowers that come in white, yellow and pink. Caring for Gerbera daisies requires the same procedures no matter what color you are growing. The low-maintenance flower requires strong light and will continue to produce pink and white blooms throughout the summer.

Difficulty: Easy

Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

  • Peat-based potting soil
  • Spray bottle
  • General purpose fertilizer
  • Scissors
  1. Grow the pink and white Gerbera daisies in a well-drained site that receives full sunlight each day. If you are growing potted daisies, keep the pot in whatever window gets the most sunlight in your home and plant them in a peat-heavy potting medium.

  2. Water the soil of the daisy frequently enough to keep the soil moist from the time they bloom until they drop the flowers. When the daisies drop the blooms, allow the soil to dry out and then water again. For indoor potted plants, fill a spray bottle with water and mist the foliage once a week during the winter.

  3. Apply a general-purpose fertilizer to the pink and white daisies every other week according to the package directions during the spring and summer.

  4. Cut back spent flowers or any wilting foliage throughout the growing season. Let the plant die back once the growing season is over, whether it is indoors or outdoors.
