FARWELL â€“ The Texas AgriLife Extension Service will conduct the free multi-county â€œHigh Plains Wheat and Stocker Cattle Conferenceâ€ from 9 a.m. until noon Aug. 17 in the Farwell Community Center.
â€œThis year is shaping up to be one to create pleasant memories for High Plains stocker cattle operators,â€ said Benji Henderson, AgriLife Extension agent in Parmer County. â€œWeâ€™ve had abundant moisture and cattle prices remain strong with no clouds on the immediate horizon.
â€œThe purpose of this conference is provide our regionâ€™s producers with the best information we can early enough so they can use it when planning this yearâ€™s wheat crop.â€
The eventâ€™s scheduled speakers are Dr. Brent Bean, AgriLife Extension agronomist, and Dr. Ted McCollum, AgriLife Extension beef cattle specialist, who are both headquartered in Amarillo.
The conference is being conducted by the AgriLife Extension agents in Parmer, Bailey, Castro, Lamb and Hockley counties.
