Joan Burke has organised this garden to raise awareness about Alzhiemers. Not only do many people suffer with Alzheimers but their loved ones and families struggle to cope with the difficulties it creates. Probably the highest profile sufferers most recently have been fictional characters in soaps on TV and radio… Mike Baldwin in Coronation Street, whose character died after a short story line, and most recently Jack Wooley in the Archers on Radio 4. Jack’s character has been shown to go into a decline over quite a long period of time, and whilst struggling to cope his wife Peggy suffers a stroke but is still resentful of help.
