  1. @chasnsx Im only 12 and ive been keeping bonsai for over 4 months all in great condition ,

    Keep up the great vids

  2. @Hvalborg1 I was 11 when I first got interested in bonsai, but had no money, no help, no nothing. Kept trying and by high school, was able to keep one juniper alive. Then college and law school got in the way. I started practicing bonsai for real when I was 26.

  3. How do you get more roots? I have it for over a year and no new roots 🙁
Do I need to cut the small roots?

  4. I got one of these but it’s leaves are very far away from the stem how can i get them closer can you prune it right length (removing all the leaves) before spring or should I just make it bit shorter and kind of force the leaves to grow lower?

  5. my ginseng ficus is small and there is nothin i can do with it is there any way i can make it grow faster and i also wanted to ask is there any way i can know its age ? yaaa i found the sentence ( in your vidio :P) my ficus doesnt follow the rules of bonsai 😛

  6. The aerial roots will grow naturally on most varieties of ficus, other than Benjamina. Benjaminas will only grow aerial roots if they are in a tropical, high moisture environment.

  7. @yboben I usually add a little extra organic matter at the base of the tree to encourage moss growth, and then keep the tree in partial shade. If the conditions are right the moss will grow naturally.

  8. @yboben You can buy trees like this from Bonsai Boy of New York. They have a website. I do not sell trees, and this particular tree is not for sale since it belongs to my wife.

  9. Any ideas on how to get ginseng ficus cuttings roots to bulge out like their parent ?

I have 3 1 year old cuttings that are doing quite well after using the 2 liter bottle method to get roots to grow.

  10. thats not really typical of what i usually see stuffed into a dark shelf in the floral dept. at wal mart this one makes those look good lol

  11. ahh i see, so in a way the root trimming is a method of keeping the tree actually small so it is still classed as a bonsai?

  12. On a repot into a larger pot like this one, I cut the long, leggy roots in order to get an even, compact rootmass because it contributes to even, compact growth on top of the tree. When repotting into the same size pot, we take off all of the outer roots in order to allow the tree to grow new roots, absorb nutrients, and stay the same size.

  13. I impale the rootball and run the wires at the ends, it works well for ficus. Try it, Master Kimura uses this technique. I have no idea why people like ginseng ficus. I find them hideous. But many say taste change as you get older, maybe I will like them in the future.
