FISHVIET stage 1 is an ornamental fish database project of Nong Lam University in cooperation with HCMC Department of Science and Technology and HCMC Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. The principal investigator of FISHVIET and AQUAVIET is Dr. Vu Cam Luong, a lecturer of NLU.
FISHVIET was started on July 7, 2007 and has been completed for its first results on Sep 9, 2009. However, FISHVIET is currently at the first phase of its four stages, in which the second stage will be expected to start in 2010. Four stages of FISHVIET are as follows:
1. Stage 1: it had been carried out from 07-07-2007 to 09-09-2009 in order to set up a list of Vietnam freshwater ornamental fish to be currently sold in the market. The stage 1 also included the contents of fish taxonomy, biology, culture condition and the market.
2. Stage 2: it is expected to start after 2009 in order to investigate the list ofVietnam marine ornamental fish that is currently sold in the market.
3. Stage 3: in order to witing up, to review and to edit of ornamental fish news and techniques.
4. Stage 4: in order to set up a Vietnam Ornamental Fish Directory that is included the details of farms, shops, products and documents.
Together with FISHVIET, AQUAVIET has been developed as its English version. AQUAVIET was started on 08-08-2008 in order to develop a simply verion of FISHVIET, probably just waiting for further international cooperation projects in the future…
