The bleeding heart has everything other flowers have, but its essentially inside-out. This is what gives the flower it’s distinctive characteristics. The pistil, style and ovary are also inside the folds of the flower.

Branches

  • The branches of the bleeding heart plant also vary greatly depending on the variety. Some bleeding hearts have dark green woody long branches that arch over. Old-fashioned bleeding hearts have branches that are green or light brown. Other creeping types of bleeding hearts have more vine-like branches.
